Westmorland Green natural slate has been quarried for over 400 years to create a truly stunning roof covering that is used throughout the British Isles. Natural slate is renowned for being quarried from Honister Slate Mine or Burlington Stone quarries located near Kirby–in–Furness within the Lake District National Park. Due to demand overtaking supply and therefore an increase in costs and availability of Westmorland Green Slates, Greys recognised that there would be a demand to provide a genuine alternative, that not only provides a cost saving of around 75% against the natural product, but also replicates identically the roofscape the Westmorland slate deserves and is also readily available. Greys Reproduction Slate provides an exquisite finish and gives an identical laid appearance to that of the natural product. With moulds taken from Westmorland Green natural slate originals, the exquisite texture of the reproduction is essential, as this surface creates the Westmorland Greens distinctive characteristics. The texture of our Reproduction Westmorland Green Slates are taken from natural slate originals, providing a surface even at close proximity is difficult to distinguish from the quarried product.
Combining this with a roofing slate that requires no sorting or grading, therefore saving on, on site time and labour, it is a true practical alternative. A slate that truly provides a blend of quality and aesthetics.

Greys reproduction roofing slates have been designed in consultation with professional roofers and architects, to achieve an easy to lay and uniform slating format. 
Greys Artslate Roofing Slates are constructed from Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) producing a strong and durable slate weighing only 30kgm² . 
Their construction allows them to be cut easily without cracking or breaking and looks like slate when cut.
