Undereaves 26" and 22" Slates and Top Slates
Greys Artstone Random Diminishing Reproduction Stone replicates the Natural Sandstone roofing originally used in areas such as the Yorkshire Dales and Derbyshire Dales National Parks.
With veins of Random Diminishing stone roofing also gracing properties in Lancashire and Cheshire the appearance the slates provide an appearance of distinction that would grace any home, either new, contemporary or refurbish.
Due to the closure of quarries over the decades, the Natural Sandstone has been increasingly difficult to source in all areas, and therefore cost of purchasing the reclaimed product massively increasing.
Detailed moulding, a choice of colours and a range of sizes create a coursed and diminishing stone slate roof.
The glass fibre cement construction provides a light yet durable roofing material.
An easy to lay format and a range of compatible products, including ridges and in-line ventilation systems, create an extremely versatile and cost effective alternative to natural products.
Each individual slate is hand crafted using moulds taken from stone slate originals.
As with natural stone, shades vary with no two slates being identical. This combined with the surface detail and hand colouring ensures a truly authentic roofscape.
Greys Artstone roofing slates have been designed in consultation with professional roofers and architects, to achieve an easy to lay slating format, resulting in a coursed and diminishing stone slate roof.
All the slates in our range have been successfully tested for durability, colour, strength, fire and freeze thaw. Many of our competitors use traditional concrete, their slates aren’t protected from the elements, which will expose the aggregate over time. See the example below.
In a recent document The International Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete Association recommend that for good quality GRC, ductile lifetimes of at least 60-80 years can be confidently expected in UK weather conditions. (Source: www.grca.org.uk).
We’re confident our product is durable enough and manufactured to the highest of standards that we give a 25 year manufacturer guarantee.
Colour and Efflorescence COLOUR: Stone and Slate colours on this website are subject to the limitations of monitor quality and are for guidance only. EFFLORESCENCE: The phenomenon of efflorescence has been a problem to the construction industry for decades. The cause lies in the basis chemistry of all Portland cements. Efflorescence in Greys Artstone products is a temporary phenomena and will disappear over time.
